What are lacquered stair parts?

Lacquered stair parts are components such as spindles, handrails and newel posts that are coated in a protective, glossy film that provides additional resistance against surface damage, and looks great too.

We use a polyurethane lacquer in our range, which is applied with a spray tool for even and consistent coverage, preventing drip and brush marks. Polyurethane lacquer is exceptionally hardwearing and offers a smooth application for a premium-standard finish.

Just be sure to select 'lacquered' on the product page.

Why choose a lacquered stair part finish?

Stair parts coated in a polyurethane lacquer finish offer several additional benefits to standard unfinished components. This includes:

  • Additional durability - Lacquer is exceptionally robust and resilient against scratches, scuffs and everyday wear, helping keep your expensive stairs in excellent condition for longer.
  • Moisture and stain resistance - A layer of lacquer shields your treads, newel posts and spindles from liquid damage by providing a protective, water-resistant barrier.
  • Easy to clean - Gloss finishes can be wiped cleaned more easily than unsealed wood finishes, enabling you to keep your staircase looking as good as new.
  • A pristine finish - Lacquered timber has a deep gloss finish that enhances the natural wood grain of the real oak and looks stunning in modern, contemporary interiors.
  • Maintains the colour of the oak - Lacquer helps to lock in the natural shade of the timber, preventing it from lightening or darkening.
  • No sanding required - These parts are ready to install as they are, meaning there’s no need for sanding, staining or varnishing, saving you much hassle.
