Collection: Newel Posts

Newel posts are the perfect feature to enhance your new or existing staircase and complement your interior decor choices.

Stair newel posts are important structural parts at the top or bottom of your balustrade, supporting the bannister when there is a change in direction. Not only this, but these staircase parts add aesthetic appeal to stairways and often make for an eye-catching focal point.

Whether you're interested in a solid oak finish or our range of white primed newel posts, we're confident we have the best option for your home – call us today to make an order or to speak with a team member.

What's so special about our newel posts?

Our newel posts are famous for being hard-wearing and super stylish, perfect for enhancing any living space.

Crafted from fine quality timbers and stored safely in our warehouse before dispatch, you can be confident that your newel posts will last for many years and maintain their excellent finish.

Our range of newel posts

We offer a beautiful selection of oak finishes and white-primed stair parts.

Oak provides you with a timeless appearance that you’ll never grow tired of, and is robust enough to withstand intense foot traffic.

With white primed newel posts, you gain much flexibility with colour options. White primed stair components arrive at your door prepared for painting, so you can choose whichever shade you like to transform your balustrade.

Additionally, all our white-primed items are crafted from high-quality woods and will continue to look great for years.

Staircases don't have to be boring! Our collection of styles allows you to express your personality in your home – whether you're looking for a decorative, modern, or timeless appearance.

Newel Post FAQs

If you have an open space at the side of your staircase, you'll require a newel post. This is because these stair parts are the central pillars of balustrades and support the other staircase parts, like the handrails and baserails.

Stair newel posts are a great way to put a unique spin on any traditional staircase. You can get them in a variety of materials, finishes and styles to match your current interior themes or stand out against the surrounding woodwork.

Without a newel post, other staircase parts won’t have anything to anchor onto, meaning they’re more likely to bend and break from day-to-day use.

Here at Stair Crazy, we offer timeless newel posts that will perfectly finish off your staircase, while providing strength and structure. Combined with a newel cap, newel posts play an integral part of any staircase, both in style and structure.

If you have any questions about your staircase and how to make it as structurally sound as possible, email us today at info@staircrazy.co.uk for a prompt reply.

When it comes to your staircase, it’s important to choose strong and reliable materials that last. Here at Stair Crazy, we recommend our solid oak newel posts, which can withstand more impact than most other timbers.

Oak is famous for being hard-wearing, scratch-resistant and durable, making it the perfect addition to any home or public setting. As each newel post is made from natural timber, they will contain stunning medullary rays which offer a unique and natural finish.

Like all of our oak staircase parts, our newel posts are available with an optional lacquer to make your newel post shine and last even longer.

Here at Stair Crazy, of course! We have a wide range of newel posts in various finishes (with more designs coming soon).

Whether you want traditional oak or a white primed newel post, we’ve got you covered.

Like all of our oak staircase parts, our newel posts are made from solid timber surrounded by durable cladding to create a sturdy and seamless finish.

You can then add our optional lacquer to your newel post for a sleek, shiny finish, which also makes it easier to manage.

We don’t just supply high-quality newel posts, we also have a dedicated team to provide you with a great customer experience you won’t find anywhere else.

The price of stair parts will depend on the material, the finish you choose, the number you require, the size and where you buy them from.

We provide a number of different styles of newel posts here at Stair Crazy in various lengths, with the option to have them lacquered or unfinished.

Combining an oak core and oak cladding creates a durable newel post that stands the test of time. Our competitive prices and quality products make our newel posts excellent value for money.

As each newel post is made from natural oak, they will contain medullary rays which give a unique finish to your staircase.

Feel free to shop the range today. But, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch with the team today - we’re more than happy to advise you on what option is best for you.

Of course! Many homeowners choose to switch out their stair parts for newer versions when they notice signs of damage or when they fancy a change.

This is a great way to add some personality to your home, without having to completely renovate your flight - making it a much more cost-effective way of updating your hallway.

While you can switch them out yourself, we always recommend contacting a professional if you’re not confident when it comes to DIY projects. This ensures anything installed is done properly and safely - installing stair parts incorrectly could lead to further, costly problems.

Want to find out more? Send your questions to info@staircrazy.co.uk and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can with more information - don’t forget to give us as much detail as you can regarding your requirements so we can recommend a suitable solution.

It’s very common to paint areas of your staircase. You can opt for neutral tones or shades that compliment the surrounding woodwork and walls or make a statement with a bold colour that contrasts the rest.

However, to make sure you do it right, you need to take your time and create an even base beforehand for a smooth finish.

Sand down any existing paint or varnish and dust, before wiping over with a damp cloth. This removes any residue or dirt to guarantee a professional look that lasts.

To keep all edges neat, you can put tape and sheets on the surfaces you don’t want to paint - this is especially important if you’re using a different colour for the rest of your flight. Start at the top of the stairs and apply a primer.

When dry, it’s time to paint. Allow each layer to dry properly and build up the colour until opaque.

If you’d like to paint your newel post but want some advice, our friendly experts are more than happy to help. Just call us today on 01942 365 509 to chat with us directly.
